![]() ![]() Installed an image of the C: Drive that only contains Windows XP and Ghost 12.0.ġ0. Under monitor your system and drives/spaces X: & Y: are missingĩ. Under clean your disk and freespace X:&Y: can be selected to have the free space bleached. I changed the drive letters using disk management Y: & X:ħ. Since the image was made before I installed these 2 new hard drives Windows XP assigned them Drive letters H: & I:Ĥ. Installed an image of C: Drive that only contains Windows XP and Ghost 12.0.ģ. Made a Ghost image of my current C: Drive.Ģ. I can bring this issue to Symantec's attention but let's see what happens after using the removal tool first. If you have anything other than Ghost and NU, please let me know before running the removal tool so I can provide more guidance if needed. Please NOTE that the Norton removal tool will remove ALL Norton/Symantec software so be sure and have your product keys ready in case you need it to reinstall the software. I would recommend doing a conventional uninstall of NU first, then running the removal tool twice with a reboot in between each. If this does solve it, it would seem to indicate that perhaps something is getting left in the registry which associates the original drives as H & I and is not getting updated somehow when the drive letters are changed. Please correct me if I am misinterpreting what you are saying.Īssuming the above is correct it will be interesting to see what happens after you run the removal tool and reinstall NU. If I am understanding you correctly did you originally have these two drives as H & I when you first installed Norton Utilities in the beginning? And then the problem was that when they ultimately changed to Y & X, NU did not recognize them? Is there some where on the Norton website that I can report this bug ? In NU under monitor your system then drives/space I did not see Y: or X: so I changed Y: to H: and it worked. I Verified this but installing the image of C: I backed up with all my software and went into "safe mode". Problem Solved H: and I: now work in monitor your system. I left the drives as H: and I: because I was in a hurry. I installed an image that I have of only Windows XP and Ghost 12.0. When I go into monitor your system and click on drives/space they are not there. When I run NU and go into clean your disk and then select free space I can select Y: or X: to have the free space bleached. Rebooted the computer and installed NU but did not activate it. I had not used it for a while so the 2 new drives were set to H: and I: I changed them to Y: and X. I decided to troubleshoot this problem by backing my C: drive and installed an image that I have of only Windows XP and Ghost 12.0. I searched the Norton website for the removal tool and could not find it for NU. The removal tool is on the website but it is not listed for NU. ![]()
